Advent is a time of anticipatory joy. It is also a time in which we are looking towards Christmas through adult eyes – redeeming the materialism in our culture. Advent is a gifting invitation to deepen in our awareness of: God’s great love for us individually and collectively; God’s great desire (want) to reside within us; God’s great hope and trust in us to bring Him to all those we meet and to all that we do. Are you desiring a greater awareness of Love?... Are you desiring to embrace your baptismal call on a deeper level? Awareness is only the first step to any dimension!

Helen Beairsto, RC is a Cenacle Sister living and ministering in northern New Jersey. She is an experienced spiritual director and retreat presenter. Sr. Helen has been trained in the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius and other schools of prayer and is a trainer and facilitator of the Biospiritual Focusing process and a LCSW in the state of NJ.

 Holy Week Retreat
Holy Week Retreat: “Tending Our Soul Garden”
Wednesday Evening, April 4th to Easter Sunday Morning, April 8th, 2012
Presenter: Sister Anita Constance, SC

Perhaps the deepest soul-experience of Jesus took place after the Passover when he entered the Garden of Gethsemane. Tending Our Soul Garden is an opportunity for reflection, prayer, creative experiences and solitude during these most sacred of days.

It is spring…what has survived the winter of our lives? Are there weeds to be pulled? New tools, new plants, new designs to be discovered? This retreat is an invitation to enter the garden of our souls to work the rich soil of God’s grace. An experience that will lead each of us from the garden of the passion to the garden of new life—the promise of Resurrection fulfilled.

Anita M. Constance, SC, former Director of Xavier Retreat and Conference Center at Convent Station, NJ, is the author of several spiritual books, and experienced in giving retreats and workshops. She has 15 years of pastoral care experience at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station. Her other ministries include liturgy, spiritual direction, bereavement support and pastoral counseling in parish settings.

 2012 Summer Retreats
Silent Summer Preached Retreat
Date: Sunday, June 17th - Saturday, June 23, 2012
“Walking with Jesus and Mark”

The Gospel of Mark asks us to walk with Jesus on his way of healing, forgiveness, shame, suffering and death. On this retreat we will walk with Jesus to see God’s powerful presence in the beauty of a sunset or in the power of the ocean. It will be more difficult to walk with Jesus as he challenges us to see the revelation of God in our weakness and in the cross. Jesus guides us to see that in his cross the wisdom and power of God are revealed. We know that we are truly walking with Jesus when we can say with St. Paul: “Therefore, I am content with weaknesses...for when I am weak, then I am strong (2 Cor 12:10).

Silent retreats are conducted in an atmosphere of silence to foster one's own prayer and out of reverence for one another. In keeping with this atmosphere, all meals are taken in silence. Soft instrumental music is played with lunch and dinner.

Presenter: Jim Scullion, OFM is a Franciscan Friar currently stationed in St. Francis Parish, Long Beach Island, NJ. He has a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from the Catholic University, Washington, DC. He taught New Testament for some 20 years at the Washington Theological Union. He has served as theological advisor for “The Word Among Us.” He has written articles on St. Francis and the Gospel of John, the Internet and Theological Education, and the Interpretation and Actualization of Scripture.
