Days of Reflection

Day of Reflection on the Four Female Doctors of the Church

The Song, The Staff and The Flowers: Women of Faith, Physicians of Soul
Date: Saturday, October 19th, 2019 - 10am - 3:30pm

This retreat day facilitated by Carmel Boyle, singer/songwriter and spiritual director from Ireland, is inspired by the spirit of the female doctors of the church. You are welcomed into an experience of song, story and reflection, where you will encounter these women and experience their spiritualities from a fresh perspective and ponder a contemporary spirituality that is relevant for today. Carmel will take you on a journey, in the company of these women, companioned by her powerful song and her prayerful contemplative approach, that will not only lead to the heart of the relationship with God that these women shared, but will also allow the Divine Presence to touch your own heart and nurture your soul. ‘The Song’ represents the music and poetry of Therese of Lisieux, Teresa of Avila, Hildegard of Bingen and Catherine of Siena, while ‘The Staff’ looks to their leadership and witness within their individual contexts and ‘The Flowers’ refer to the flower metaphors and symbolism associated with these women. Carmel will sing from her repertoire of original compositions bringing together the diverse spiritualities of these holy women who share the one Spirit that continues to inspire women today.

Presenter: Carmel Boyle MMin, is singer/songwriter of spiritually orientated songs and has recorded more than a dozen albums. She is an experienced retreat facilitator and spiritual teacher.
